Timi Akindee-Ajani- Film maker and photographer.
About him
Timi is a London based Director and photographer. His parents were born in the uk however, they were raised and his work mirrors his life experiences, his films talk about issues related to race, relationships and identity, his work was shown on Port magazine, BBC and many more. Some of his work are such as: Expats, Tony and Guests-"Backgrounds: Portraits"- Timi Akindele-Ajani
Backgrounds illustrates the different cultures and backgrounds of the people around the world. The project was aimed to create a portrait of 21st century Britain today, this furthermore it shows the diversity which is really important as it shows how many different cultures and different backgrounds the people that live in Britain have and that even though everyone has different backgrounds they can live in harmony.
One thing that I enjoy about Timi's work is that it original and not many do what he does, uniting the different backgrounds and talking about the way all immigrants and refugees play an important part in the way Britain is as a whole. Talking about how important culture and background is to the people themselves and how it makes them behave and engage with other people around them, as there are many people that live in Britain how that no matter what they can all live in unity and that they are also willing to share apart of their culture. Being an immigrant myself, embracing my cultures' is a really big thing for me and seeing someone coming from that kind of background and using creative ways to share their own background and help others be proud of their heritage is really important and teach other of the different backgrounds around the world.
Max Huber- Graphic designer
Max Huber was a Swiss Graphic designer, born in 1919. When he first began a career in Graphic design in 1935 in Zurich in an advertising agency. Due to the beginning of the war he fled Switzerland to Italy afterwards due to Italy being involved he moved back. He had joined the group Allianz in 1942, where he exhibited his abstract work at the Kunsthaus Zurich. With the war ending an him going back to Milan. An Italian publisher assigned him to be creative director for the publish house. After a few years, His work really began to increase in popularity. His style of work is unique and abstract, adding colours that contrast and somehow blend to make the design seem more appealing and captivating. Using different cultures to add to his work and making it work with his design. However, when it comes to my views I would not really think I could take inspiration from his work as I believe his designs would not work with my ideas or work.

Tadanori Yokoo
Tadanori Yokoo was a Japanese Graphic Designer born on the 27th oh July in 1936. His unique style of work of pastiche and psychedelia captures a large span of Cultural phenomena and modern visual from around the world and more specifically Japan. Yokoo embraced a pop type of art aesthetic in Japan in the 1960s, by designing multiple things such as book covers, posters and illustrations for many businesses. From the 1980s he has created multiple paintings in the figurative style and has collaborated with the fashion designer Issey Miyake.
When it comes to Yokoo's style of work him involved a lot of the Japanese culture is very important as it talks about his identity of being from said country. The addition of the Japanese text and style of adding samurais in his work further enhances that. I have gotten some ideas from his design of the pop style work as it makes it stand out compared to other designers, furthermore the colours stand out as they are bright and engages the viewer as the more you look at the design the more you start to see some of the hidden work. Thus, i have taking inspiration from his work as he involved a lot of his background and culture when it comes to his work.
This is a timeline in history which an some aspects links to the topic that I am researching as it talks about the history of a culture and educating and informing people about in this example the roman empire

Yuhi Shosetsu 1968
Timeline:
A timeline is a visual representation of actions and/or events that happen in a chronological order. It helps organize information and show the sequence of events. Timelines have been used for centuries to organize and visualize historical events etc. The concept of timelines has evolved over time and today we use them in various fields for example like history, project mangement and planning.
This is another example of a time that is used to educate people about the history and culture of America
Infographics and Cartography:
Infographics are a visual representations of information or data, using images, charts and graphics. They make complicated information easier to understand and more visually appealing. Some examples are, A bar chart showing the growth of the population in many countries over time. A comparison inforgraphic illustrating the features of different phones and timeline indicating the major events in historical periods.

Cartography is the art and science of creating maps. It includes studying and interpreting maps to illustrate geographic information. It is like creating a visual guide to help navigate and further understand the world.
Primary research: Survey answers.
With my FMP being linked to culture and background I wanted to show the diversity of the country with majority people who took part of my survey identifying as mixed, illustrates the range of backgrounds.
I wanted to know more about how peoples ethnicities shaped them to who they are now, when I asked around my friends I had learnt that people are appreciative of their backgrounds and proud of who they are and where they are from and some felt pressured and felt like they could not really express themselves due to the fear of being judged by their own community and people.
How has your ethnicity shaped you as a person?6 responses
its made me fit in with others
its made me stronger emotionally
Not sure.

It has made me more of an individual
I feel blessed to have 2 different ethnicities because I feel educated and want to know more.
When I had asked my friends and fellow pupils about Cultural appropriation, everyone had mixed views some had said that as long as people learn and understand the cultural and background of the said thing it is fine and some are even happy that people want to understand their communities. Some disagreed and said people trying to copy etc others background and cultures is inappropriate and should not be happening.
What are your views on cultural appropriation?6 responses
I believe everyone should be respected and everyone is equal

If it's not used in a malicious way, I wouldn't think it's too bad, though I can see why it can be considered harmful to people in that culture.

The history of where you are from.
Secondary research:
For my secondary research I had used a YouTube video which was an interview that discusses the struggles of being second generation immigrants and it was quite similar to what I had wanted to discuss in my video and how I wanted to plan out my video where its an interview style where I get a few people and ask them some questions about their own backgrounds and culture.
Furthermore, Whilst researching a few things about second/third generation immigrants I had fell upon a UCL study talking about Ethnicity and Second generation immigrants and in the research that UCL have conducted in their conclusion they had stated that ' All minorities experience a lower employment rate than white natives. They also tend to
have lower wages, if we control for their regional distribution and education. However,
there are considerable differences between ethnic groups.' which talks about how that immigrants even though they may have worked harder and may have better education all minorities as quoted experience a lower employment rate and lower wages. As well as ' Second generation immigrants tend to be better educated than their parents’ generation,
and better educated than their white native peers' which further illustrates the racial discrimination minorities still face till this day, using this article I was hoping it could help me with the project and how I could use it to help me with the questions I would ask the interviewees.
Another Research that I had conducted was another video called 'What It's Like To Have A Second-Generation Immigrant Identity'. This video talks about the uncomfortable truths of being immigrants or even being from different background and the video includes some stories about racism that people from minority backgrounds such as: Black, Asian and other backgrounds. This is kind of the type of video I want to create as it talks about the difficulties people face yet being a light-hearted and video that many young adults would watch as it seems relatable which is added by the cartoon like characters.
Context and environment.
Where my FMP will appear?
My FMP will appear on various social media platforms such as: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and X with the use of said social media platforms, I hope that my FMP will reach the audience demographic I am aiming it at who are young adults and teens all over the world and with the hope for them to get educated and wanting to learn more about their and others cultures and backgrounds.
What I need to think about in terms of the environment and platforms?
When it comes to the environment and platforms I need to be wary of the difficulties I could face, When it comes to the environment I would need to think about ways ill be producing my work and how I aim to make it sustainable avoiding using things that could harm the environment and if I use props etc to be able to recycle them. When it comes to my platforms I aim to be careful which audience reach my FMP without offending certain people and to help inform everyone in a respectful way.
Audience demographic.
My fmp is aimed at late teens and early 20s people who come from different background and culture and to educate and an attempt to influence them to learn more about their backgrounds and help them get educated and be proud about where they are from and help them embrace their culture. Many people from the age of 16-25 who are not informed about their culture and do not feel like they can fit in with their people.
